Free Eye-Safety Workshops Offered Across Nova Scotia

For the second year in a row, the Workers’ Compensation Board, the Department of Labour and Advanced Education, and the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) are working with trainers from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) to deliver eye-safety workshops, an initiative of the province’s Workplace Safety Strategy.
There are more than 1,400 workplace eye injuries reported in Nova Scotia each year. The impact of eye injuries is significant for workplaces, and life altering for injured workers and their families.
The eye-safety workshop tour that took place in 2015 achieved incredible results. Over 1,280 participants attended the 11 workshops offered at seven NSCC campuses reaching.
Eye-Safety Workshops will be held in the following areas in February and March:
Burridge Campus, Yarmouth, February 10th, 2:00 pm
Annapolis Valley Campus, Middleton, February 11th, 10:00 am
Kingstec Campus, Kentville, February 11th, 1:00 pm
Pictou Campus Stellarton February 16th, 11:00 am
Dr. Carson & Marion Murray Centre, Springhill, February 17th, 11:00 am
Lunenburg Campus, Bridgewater, February 18th 11:00 am
Strait Area Campus Port Hawkesbury February 23rd, 10:30 am
Wagmatcook Learning Centre, Baddeck, February 23rd, 1:30 pm
Marconi Campus, Sydney, February 24th, 9:00 am & 10:00 am
Akerley Campus, Dartmouth, March 1st, 11:00 am
IT Campus, Halifax, March 2nd, 9:30 am
Waterfront Campus, Dartmouth, March 3rd, 11:30 am & 12:30 pm
