New safety quiz launched for Nova Scotia’s students

Schools across Nova Scotia are continuing to see their workplace health and safety resources and supports expand with the addition of a next level workplace health and safety quiz for high school students in Nova Scotia.

The Safe@MyJob Quiz series established in 2014 for grade 10-12 teachers and students has grown to include “Safe@MyJob2”. Following on the success of the first “Safe@MyJob” quiz, Safe@MyJob2 provides a higher level of challenge for students to test their workplace safety knowledge and awareness.

With a greater degree of difficulty and a more robust marking system, Safe@MyJob2 has had over 500 logins from teachers and students since it was rolled out on December 1st. Students can take either quiz multiple times, but the only way to receive a series certificate is to earn a 60% or greater on Safe@MyJob and 90% or greater on Safe@MyJob2. In the first two weeks of December, 57 series certificates were granted!

The NS Virtual School provides a great opportunity to support classroom content on workplace health and safety. Education is a key component of the Workplace Safety Strategy, and providing innovative and interactive ways for young students to access information is a priority.
